With Study Island, Stephen Decatur Middle School (SDMS) provides standards-based instruction, practice, and assessment in math to all students in grades 7 and 8. SDMS consistently performs well on the Maryland School Assessment (MSA) in mathematics and is ranked as one of the state’s top middle schools. In 2010, 94 percent of students scored at or above the proficient level in math. In addition, SDMS was honored by the U.S. Department of Education in 2009 as a National Blue Ribbon School in recognition of its high academic goals and student achievement on state tests.
